The Latest News

Hello Everyone!!! Sorry I have not posted lately, but I have been working at HEB and nothing spectacular has really happened. I am still working on my post about Schlitterbahn so keep watch for that one.

I have my interview tomorrow for the job that I would really like to have so please any last minute prayers you can say for me I would greatly appreciate it. I leave for Vegas on Friday for a dance conference and I am super excited about that. I will definitely be posting about that trip in a blog later. This will be my first ever trip to Vegas so I do not really know what to expect. We are staying at the Red Rock Resort.

If you are not my friend on Facebook then you did not see my status about my first experience wedding dress browsing. There is a small shop here is West that we just went to look at and see what they have. I have heard it is good to go to smaller places just to look and try on because you can find out things you definitely do and do not like. Things I learned on this trip is 1. I need to starve myself till the wedding. 2. Sweet heart necklines give me no help in the boob area (made me flat as a board) 3. I do not like lace up backs. I did learn good things and had fun, but I think the don'ts are good things to remember.

So there is an update on what is happening with me. Be on the look out for my post about Vegas and Schlitterbahn that are to come!!! Thank you all for reading my blog. I am glad to hear that people are enjoying it!

Bad Groupie

Gary and the band he is in, Frizt Hodde and the Fabulous Six played at West KC Hall on July 7th. It is so nice when his band plays closer to home (especially this close!) we do not have to drive far and can get to bed at a decent time. I forgot to take pictures and videos at this one because I was too busy gabbing with my cousin Brianna Lytle, which I loved getting to do!

Here is a video and picture that Gary's mom took and sent to me.

Also, here is an update on me and my job search. I have been hired with HEB and I have worked two days now. Even though HEB has growth in the future they are unable to hire someone full-time immediately and I am looking to get a job where I am able to have benefits immediately so I am still looking and interviewing for other jobs, I am also looking for better pay. I had two interviews at TSTC for two different jobs. I was recommended to a second interview for both of them. Unfortunately for one of them the second interview day fell during mine and my family's trip to Schlitterbahn and because of this I was not able to have a second interview and was phoned today that they had chosen someone else for the position. I have a second interview with the other job next week before I leave for Vegas. If you have been praying for me I ask that you please continue those prayers because this is a job that I think I will do a really good job with and I like the growth that I could have in the future with this job.

SOOO unfortunately I have to work this weekend at HEB while Gary plays at two different places this weekend. I might be able to make the gig on Saturday, but it depends on how tired I am from the day. I am going to tell Gary to try and take pictures and videos, but we will see how that goes.

Be on the look out for my next post about our trip to Schlitterbahn! We had an awesome time and if you have never been I am going to put my opinions and suggestions about different things to do while there!

July 4th Weekend aka Hayleigh Fest!

Where do I start with this long July 4th weekend?

Wednesday night we stayed up pretty late because guess who was on their way to us?! Miss Hayleigh Don Roberts and of course we could not wait to see her. Hayleigh is my God-Daughter and future niece and the best baby girl ever!!! The next day we planned on going shopping and I knew I was going to get to hang out with Hayleigh quite a bit that day, but her Uncle Wayne would not. So when I woke up I went to find her and brought her to lay with him for a little while.

Are they not the sweetest????? Hayleigh loves to cuddle and take pictures as you will see throughout this post.

When Hayleigh, Gina, and Haze come to visit we always end up shopping because Gina and Haze live in Sanderson, TX which is towards the Big Bend area of Texas. So there is not really any shopping malls to entirely close to them. This trip was very special though because we went and got Miss Hayleigh's ears pierced. She did an amazing job and was such a big girl (she did cry, but not for very long).

Look at that bling bling! She is such a big girl already :( Since this day was the 4th we did not shop for very long because some stores we wanted to go to were not open. We went shopping as well the following day. Instead of showing ya'll things that I purchased on this post I am just going to continue to show cute pictures of Hayleigh :) I did purchase an awesome chair (it is a super ugly green) at a garage sale for a steal, $8!,  and I plan to reupholster it at some point.

This is an outfit that I bought for Hayleigh before she was even born hehehe! I found the matching bow at a shop here in Waco called Little Monkey's. They have bows, jewelry, and some clothing. This bow has a button on it that just happens to say "My Aunt Spoils Me". I thought it suited me very well.

The last thing we did this weekend was attend the Support West Baseball game on Saturday. The Rangers donated quite a bit of money to both the City of West and the West Youth Baseball program. They also did a really awesome dedication to the city and lives that were lost to the explosion. It was very heart touching and brought me and others to tears. Gary and his Step-Dad got to walk on the field and had their hands shaken by Nolan Ryan and David Murphy. Our seats were luckily in the shade which was very nice. Now here are some pictures of the cutest Ranger fan ever!!!

Isn't she the cutest!!!!! I really love getting to spend time with her whenever I can because she is just growing so fast!!!

I had a wonderful July 4th weekend. I hope everyone else's was just as fun!

First Wedding Tutorial-Will you be my?

Get excited!!! This is my first of many wedding tutorials I will be posting as I craft different things for my big day!!

This is an invitation way to ask your maids to be in your big day with you. I got the idea for this from watching a video on I believe theknot.com, but I cannot find it anymore or I would give credit where it is due.

This is how I asked my Maids of Honor and Bridesmaids to be in my wedding (I am having two Maids of Honor).

I first made 4 signs out of heavy duty cardstock. One that said Will You, the next Be My, the third Bridesmaid, and the last Maid of Honor. I am not posting the how-to on this part, but I am posting a picture so you can see them a little closer. If I had time and was ok with spending more money on paper I would have re-done this with the letters being smaller so I would have had more pictures.

The next thing that I did was take pictures with all of these signs. I decided to take these pictures outside and at different locations that I thought was fun. I took my last picture at the local catholic church so it was like I was traveling to church. This gives you lots of room to be creative!

Now for the tutorial.

Gather your supplies!

The quantities for these all depend on how many MOH and Bridesmaids you will have in your wedding. I am going to personally have 5 in all so I will be posting the quantities with that as the amount. Besides what I already had at home I purchased all of my supplies at Hobby Lobby. Besides things being on sale every week remember you can always get one regularly priced item for 40% off at Hobby Lobby. I use an app called RetailMeNot on my phone and it always has the code that is good for that week. I also use this app everywhere I go to see if there is any sort of deal I can get!

10 sheets(2 sheets of each kind) of scrap book paper; I used this because you can get really cool patterns and it is light weight so will not make your letter so heavy if you plan to mail, which I did. I also chose colors that compliment my wedding colors.

15 4x7 pictures-5 (Will You), 5 (Be My), and 5 (MOH or Bridesmaid); if you would have more pictures if you did the sign smaller of course you would have more or if you have more girls.

5 large invitation envelopes; the ones I bought were from Hobby Lobby and were 5.25 x 7.75 in. They were also a color that compliments my wedding colors.

Ruler, Pencil, Scissors or Paper Trimmer, Glue Stick; I used the craft bond one

Step 1: Take two sheets of matching scrapbook paper.

Take one of the sheets and glue it to the other piece by putting 1 inch of glue on the top of one and overlapping the other.

Step 2: Trim your scrapbook paper so that it is able to fit inside of your envelope. I like to use whole numbers for everything and wanted to make sure that I had space in my envelopes; I wanted you to see what kind of back it has.

My envelopes were 7.75 in wide so I measured for the paper to be 7 in wide. I measured 7 in all the way down the paper then drew a line connecting all of my dots.

I used scissors to cut the paper, but I would have much rather used a paper trimmer. I think it would have made this process a lot easier.

Step 3: Next we need to measure for the height of the envelope. My envelopes were 5.25 in so I decided to measure 5 in. I made a pencil mark 5 in down on both sides because this will later be your guide to fold.

Step 4: We are now ready to place a glue our first picture. Place your picture in between the top of the paper and where the mark you made is. Make sure to put enough glue on the back of the picture so it will be secure.

Step 5: Now we are ready to make our first fold. First I made sure that I had measured correctly and the picture was positioned in the correct spot on the paper by putting my envelope on top of it. This way you will be able to trim off paper at the top if you need to.

Then I pinched the paper at both of the pencil marks and folded the paper all the way across.

Now repeat steps 4 & 5 depending on how many photos you have. Please note that if you have more pictures you will possibly need more scrapbook paper as well.

Once I glued my last picture I needed to trim off some paper at the bottom.

Here is the final product after repeating the steps as needed.

I also included a special letter for my maids that I made personal for each of them.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial! There are many more to come. If you have any comments on how I can make them better I would greatly appreciate it!

Love,

Wedding Shopping Round Dos!!

On Monday Dinker and I went to Dallas to do some thrift shopping as well as go to some other stores. In my post "First Round of Wedding Shopping" I showed you pictures of candle sticks/holders that I purchased at Hobby Lobby. I am looking for lots of them so I figured I need to start looking for even cheaper ones and at more places. We went to 3 thrift stores in the Dallas Area. I also went to Ross (on Wednesday) and got some as well.
Starting from left back row: Cream-I got at a thrift store for $5.49, Gold-Ross was $16 now $7.99, Turquoise-Ross was $15.00 now $7.99, Cream- thrift store for $4.00, Cream-Ross was $16.00 now $7.99 front row: Wood- thrift store for $1.49, Cream- thrift store was $4.49 but was 50% off so I got it for $2.24, Brown-Ross was $11 now $5.99, Clear- thrift store $3.49, Brown Gold-thrift store $4.00
All of these guys will be getting a facelift except for probably the turquoise one. So stay tuned for that post!

The next thing that I got (I think it was last week actually) was from Hobby Lobby. Every time I go there I always look at those Gold letters they have to see if they are on sale. Well now they have them in this dark wood color as well and guess what?! They were 50% off so I picked me up a G (would have probably got more, but there was only 1) They were previously $10 and I paid $4.99. He is going to stay just the way he is for now. If anything he will be put onto material that's in a frame which I have been seeing on Pinterest lately.

The last items I purchased were some frames. I am also slowly trying to gather these guys up at good prices because I can redo anything and I would like to get interesting shapes and big sizes for good prices. The large pink one I got at a thrift store it was $5.99. Definitely getting a make-over. The cream one I also got at a thrift store. It was $5.49, but I got it for $2.74 because it was 50% off. The black frame I got at Ross. It was previously $10 and I got it for $5.00. All of these frames will be getting a make-over in the future so stay posted.

If you are someone that is hesitant about thrift store shopping for things and redoing them I have this tip. You have to be able to picture what it is you are going to do to them. Everything can be spray painted one way or another so let your imagination run wild.

Be on the look out for when I redo all of these beauties. My plan is to give tutorials with all of them so if you are a first time redo-er you can see how to do so yourself.

Band Wife For Life

OMG! I am so behind with my blog posts and so much has happened, but I won't overload you in one post I will just have to catch ya'll up each day :) This past weekend I had a job interview on Saturday. It was not with the people that I talked about in "And the Journey Continues", but a different job with HEB. This position is not something that I am looking to do for life, but it is a way to get in with a good company and somewhere to start. I had another interview on Tuesday with someone higher at the store and should hear something soon.

On Sunday Gary had a gig with the band that he is in Fritz Hodde and the Fabulous 6. I have been always meaning to document these things on Facebook, but what better place than my blog! This gig was for Granger's Church picnic and they played with the Ennis Czech Boys. We were supposed to help some of Gary's band members move something at their house, but that didn't happen so we could have left later. Gary forgot to redo the math in his head and we still left at the same time if we would have went to their house and helped them move something so lets just say we were very early.......it all ended up ok though because Gary took me to Sirloin Stockade in Taylor, TX. I have never been to this place, but Gary said it was like Golden Corral with better food. I really liked this place because there were lots to choose from and best of all there was a chocolate fountain!!!!! After our awesome lunch we went back to the hall to unload the band trailer and get ready for the dance.

The dance went great was a fun time like always. Here below are some pictures and videos that I took during the dance.
